by Fu-Kuo Chang, Jeff Decker and Nilay Papila, Stanford University
As we close out another remarkable year, we are pleased to present the 2024 Technology Transfer for Defense (TT4D) Annual Review Newsletter.
TT4D develops solutions and strategies for defense innovation by:
Transitioning academic technologies from the lab to the marketplace and transitioning emerging technology products into defense capabilities.
Developing technology partnerships between government, academia and industry to support technology transitions between sectors.
Increasing awareness of defense-related research and technology across campus. • Strengthening relationships with the defense industry.
Facilitating dual-use technology commercialization and entrepreneurial activities.
The newsletter takes a look at some of TT4D’s success throughout 2024, including groundbreaking defense-energy projects, collaboration with the Department of Defense (DoD), industry and academic partners, confirmation of a $4.1M grant transitioning research into Department of Navy capabilities, complementing $6M in funding for technology transfer coordination, working with the Hacking for Defense program, interesting research projects and more.
Please read the newsletter below.
Technology Transfer for Defense (TT4D) specializes in matching Defense Department funding with academic research projects. In the past six years, TT4D has worked with numerous faculty members at more than a dozen universities to help them win Defense Department grants and with the Office of Naval Research, totaling more than $13 million, to support research funding and transition academic technologies from lab to defense capabilities. TT4D is based at Stanford University and is run by Jeffrey Decker, PhD, program director, Precourt Institute for Energy, Fu-Kuo Chang, professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Nilay Papila, PhD, senior program manager, Precourt Institute for Energy.
